Your account and keeping guest details safe
When we ask for an authenticator, how to reset a password, and what you can change on your account.
Your login is the email and password you chose, or Google if you used Continue with Google. This page is for couples managing a wedding. Guests have their own Your account on the wedding page.
Why we ask for an authenticator
A new account is not asked to set up an authenticator while creating the wedding. We ask when guest details are about to arrive. That is when you publish the website, or when you do something else that lets names, emails and meal needs come in.
The message is One thing before your website goes live, or One thing before you add guests' details. It explains that a second login step keeps those details safe even if someone learns your password.
You can choose Not yet. The website stays private, or nothing is added, until you set it up. Set it up now takes you through it. It takes about two minutes, and then you come back to what you were doing.
On that screen the steps are Get an app, Add WeddedWay, Enter the code and Save recovery codes.
- Install an authenticator app, or use the one already on an iPhone under Settings, then Passwords. Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator work too. If you already use one for your bank, use that.
- Choose I've got an app. Next, then scan the code we show, or tap it if you're already on your phone.
- Type the Six-digit code.
- Save the recovery codes somewhere that isn't only on that phone.
If you already have an authenticator, signing in asks you to Enter your code before the planner opens.
If you lose your phone
On the sign-in screen, open Lost your phone or can't get a code? The note asks you to try the newest code first. Codes change every 30 seconds.
Use a recovery code is one of the ten codes you saved. Each works once. You'll also Choose a new password, then Use this code.
No codes? Ask your partner is for someone who has organised the wedding with you for at least two weeks. You read them a number, then there is a 24-hour wait before you can set up a new authenticator. The button is Ask my partner to confirm. If nobody else has organised the wedding with you for that long, the page says this isn't available.
For your protection, our support team can't remove an authenticator for anyone. Ignore anyone who offers to do it for you.
After you're signed in with the authenticator, Settings then Your account includes If you lose your phone. From there you can create recovery codes. Creating new ones stops the old set working.
Reset your password
On the login page, choose Forgot password?
- The page is Reset your password. Enter your Email address and choose Send reset code.
- You'll see: if an account exists for that email, we'll send a reset code. Check your inbox and spam folder. We show the same message either way, so the page doesn't reveal whether an account is there.
- Enter the Reset code and choose Continue.
- Under Choose a new password, enter New password and Confirm new password, then Save new password. You then go to Log in.
- If signing out didn't finish, the page says your password is saved and the button is Finish signing out. Use that, then log in with the new password.
Joined with Google? You don't have a WeddedWay password. Use Continue with Google on the login page instead.
Your name, email and deleting the login
Open Settings, then Your account.
- Change First name and Last name, then Save name.
- Email address is shown and can't be edited on this page.
- Weddings linked to this account lists the weddings you can open. Organiser access is the wedding you manage. Guest access is a wedding you've joined as a guest.
- Delete your account permanently removes the login. It asks you to Confirm your password and type DELETE. Wedding websites and other people's accounts are not deleted. If you are the only organiser, the page stops you. It asks you to delete the wedding first, or add another organiser. Invite your partner from Wedding settings if you want someone else to keep it.
What to do next
When the authenticator is set up, go back and publish your website, or carry on with the guest list. You only do this once.
